Petroleum Engineer

The Timor Sea Designated Authority (TSDA), established pursuant to the Timor Sea Treaty between the governments of Timor-Leste (East Timor) and Australia, is responsible for carrying out the day to day regulation and management of petroleum activities in the Joint Petroleum Development Area (JPDA).

In anticipation of increasing activities in the JPDA, the TSDA is expanding its Technical Directorate. We are seeking an experienced Petroleum Engineer to join our Dili office.

Reporting to the Manager – Drilling and Production Operations, this position will be responsible for evaluating proposed, planned and ongoing development and production drilling activities, monitoring Operator compliance with approved work programs, managing data, and developing and implementing management systems to regulate development and production activities.

The successful applicant will have tertiary qualifications in Petroleum Engineering, preferably production; at least seven years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, both onshore and offshore; a good understanding of regulatory frameworks; excellent communication and data management skills; and good knowledge of production/reservoir engineering software applications.

Apart from the key responsibilities, the role will involve mentoring Timor-Leste National technical staff and facilitating their professional development. Therefore, applicants with training and mentoring experience, along with experience living and working in a developing country, will have a strong advantage for this position.

Travel to offshore facilities, Darwin, Perth and regional Timor-Leste, can be expected.
