Heath, Environment & Safety
Welcome to the Bayu-Undan Gas Recycle Project Health Environment and Safety webpage. Personnel on the project recognise that a safe place and safe systems of work integrated into the design of the project play an important priority for the development and execution of the Bayu-Undan Gas Recycle Project. We also recognise the importance of protecting the safety, health and wellbeing of our human resources and the basic right of all employees to be provided with a working environment that is safe and environmental friendly.
The Bayu-Undan Gas Recycle Project Health, Environment and Safety Plan provides guidance and direction to the Project Development Team and Project Personnel, with respect to the overall HES programs and activities required for the Bayu-Undan Gas Recycle Project. It also defines the requirements for matters and issues related to the occupational health and safety for project personnel. Finally the Project HES Plan will also help ensure that all major HES related activities are systematically planned and implemented for all the project phases as noted in the figure below.
The Bayu-Undan Gas Recycle Project utilizes the Corporate Process for Safety and Environmental Excellence (PSEE) to review, plan and improve the management and implementation of all project HES activities throughout the project phases. PSEE is a comprehensive improvement process focusing on systematic management of HES issues. This improvement process focuses on people, assets and systems. It is a process designed to help review the HES Management System and programs thus ensuring continuous elements as shown below.
These seventeen elements provide the foundation for any HES Management system to achieve top performance with respect to HES aspects in all of our operations. Each element describes a systematic progression of HES levels from their minimum to the most comprehensive.
The Bayu-Undan Gas Recycle Project uses the safety case process as part of risk management. The use of a safety case is also a requirement under the ZOCA regulations, which require safety cases for production and drilling facilities.
The safety case document describes various types of safety studies such as, the escape, evacuation, and rescue, the temporary refuge and emergency control systems. It also includes a description of the management system. Results from these studies and the development of the health, environment and safety management system help ensure continued safe operations of the facilities and protection of personnel.
Our Suppliers and Contractors play an important role in the overall Project success with respect to Health, Environment and Safety. Thus HE&S is a key element in the evaluation of our Supplier and Contractor Renders.
The Supplier and Contractor selection process includes a systematic approach in the evaluation and management of our Contractors in Health, Environmental and Safety requirements. This process helps us ensure that only Suppliers and Contractors with acceptable HE&S Management systems and performance are selected.
Our commitment to Supplier and Contractor safety is further strengthened through implementation of a safety incentive scheme. Where appropriate, a safety incentive scheme is used to assist in the improvement of contractor safety performance. Money is donated to Charities that are selected by the Supplier or Contractor.
Management of environmental issues has been applied throughout all project phases. This process is described in a key project document, the Environmental Management Plan, which is also a requirement of the ZOCA Regulations. This document describes the Bayu-Undan Gas Recycle Project environmental strategies, objectives and methods of management that are applied to each offshore phase of the project
